Bank of America With an ITIN

Bank of America publishes its card terms in detail and publishes nothing at all about an ITIN. That gap is the whole subject here.
So this page does not tell you the bank accepts an ITIN. Nobody can tell you that, because no issuer puts it in writing.
What can be shown is what has actually happened. In the client record First Class Citizen publish, this bank appears more than any other.
A first card at a 1,000 dollar limit with no prior US banking history. An account opened in person with the card appointment the next day. A secured card at 5,000 dollars, which is exactly the ceiling the bank publishes.
What Bank of America actually puts in writing
Their secured card page, read on 31 July 2026, is specific about money and silent about eligibility.
A minimum security deposit of 200 dollars is required to open the account, with a maximum of 5,000. The annual fee is zero.
The limit is not the deposit alone. Their page says the maximum credit limit is determined by the deposit, your income and your ability to pay the line established.
On getting the money back they are careful rather than generous. Accounts are reviewed periodically, a customer may qualify to have the deposit returned, and the page states plainly that not all customers will qualify.
Read that last sentence twice. It is the bank telling you, in its own words, that the outcome is decided case by case.
The deposit range is published. What your own file opens is the conversation.
Book Your Assessment CallWhat this bank leaves unsaid, and what Chase says out loud
Bank of America's own card material says nothing about an ITIN in either direction, read on 31 July 2026.
Chase is the one that writes it down. In its education library an application asks for a Social Security number or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, and with either you should be able to apply for most cards.
Neither publishes the part everybody actually wants, which is whether a given application is approved.
That is not a bank hiding something. Acceptance is settled inside an application, against the file in front of the underwriter, rather than announced in advance on a marketing page.
Which is why every list you will find naming this bank as ITIN-friendly is describing somebody's experience. Useful, but a different kind of claim, and worth knowing which one you are reading.
The same distinction runs through the bank question in full.
What has actually opened at this bank
First Class Citizen publish their client messages, and Bank of America appears in them more often than any other institution.
One client reports a card approved at a 1,000 dollar starting limit with no prior US banking history. Another opened the account in person and had the card appointment booked for the next day.
A third opened Capital One and Bank of America on the same day. A fourth opened a Bank of America account while resident in Greece.
On the unsecured side the record carries an approval at 1,000 dollars at zero per cent for fifteen months, and a denial that was reversed into a 10,000 dollar card after a reconsideration call.
That reversal is worth the detour, because it is the single most useful pattern in the whole record. The lever is in the limit-increase guide.
Their published ceiling, and the card in the record
The bank publishes a maximum secured deposit of 5,000 dollars. The record shows a client holding a Bank of America secured card at 5,000 dollars.
Two separate facts, each with its own source, and they meet at the same number. No claim is made here about why.
What it does tell you is the shape of a serious start. A secured line at the published ceiling is a real card with real reporting behind it, and how a secured card works covers the mechanics.
Which bank first, with which product, in what order: that is what the call maps.
Book Your Assessment CallIn person, and what that involves
The published route is not remote. First Class Citizen open the first card during a Miami visit they organise, and the owner describes it as one to two days on the ground.
The card itself typically follows within three to seven business days. Their published ladder names this bank among the ones to open with.
One line about the model, in the owner's own words, because it decides what you are actually buying: they advise, and they cannot access anyone's bank.
Nobody in this process approves you. The bank does that, and the file you walk in with is the argument. The account step comes first, and it needs the number.
