What ITIN Approvals Actually Look Like

Last updated 26 July 2026
Classical American bank building: the dome of a historic savings bank

The honest answer is that the IRS owns the clock. In the client record published on the Hall of Wins, the fastest ITIN landed in 37 days, most arrived between six and nine weeks, and the slowest case shown took about ten weeks.

The team's own stated average, written in its own client chats, is 47 days.

What a service controls is the application: a W-7 filed correctly the first time, so nothing bounces and restarts the queue. What nobody controls is how fast the IRS processes it.

Every number below is an individual outcome, taken from client messages First Class Citizen published, with no client named. Nothing here is a promise about yours.

The number that matters

The team's own average is 47 days

The most useful number on this page is not the fastest one. It is the average the team itself states when a client asks, because that is the number to plan around.

When one client's CP565 letter arrived and the team counted back to the application date, the arithmetic was done in the open: applied on the 30th of July, letter in hand 38 days later, and the team's own comment was that this sat under their average of 47 days.

The CP565 shared in the client channel. Applied 30 July, delivered 38 days later, and the team's own line: under the average of 47 days.

The fastest case in the record has its dates in writing too: applied on the 24th of August, ITIN received on the 1st of October, 37 days, which the team called a record at the time.

Team message: ITIN processed in a record 37 days, applied 24th August and received 1st October; the client confirms it was very quick
The 37-day case, dates stated: 24 August to 1 October.

Treat 37 days as the shape of the floor, not a target. The queue it depends on is not anyone's to promise.

Whether your case looks like the 38-day one or the ten-week one starts with your paperwork. The call goes through it.

The middle of the record

Most approvals landed between six and nine weeks

Reading across the published record, the middle is dense: 41, 42, 43, 45, 46, 47, 50 and 51 days all appear in the team's own congratulation messages, several of them more than once. That is the realistic corridor.

Couples and pairs apply together and land together. One message shows two applicants receiving both ITINs in 58 days and immediately asking to line up their bank visits before flying back to Dubai, which is the usual next move once the number exists.

Two clients report both ITINs received, 58 days per the team, and ask to arrange US bank visits before returning to Dubai
Two ITINs, 58 days, and the next step already being booked.
The slow end, told straight

Some took seven to ten weeks, and that is normal

A results page that only shows the fast cases is an advertisement. The published record includes the slow end, and it belongs here.

Several clients report roughly seven or eight weeks. One reports ten weeks, and his own words are worth reading, because he still called it quick.

Client message: ITIN received after about 7 weeks, thanking the team; the reply maps the next steps, US banks first, then credit cards
About seven weeks, client-stated, with the next steps mapped in the reply.
Client message: ITIN received, ten weeks from application, which the client himself calls mega quick
The slowest case shown on the wall: ten weeks, in the client's own words.

The spread has a seasonal component the team names in its own published messages: IRS processing slows every summer. If you apply into that window, plan on the far end of the corridor rather than the near one.

What actually arrives

The CP565: the letter that makes it real

An approved ITIN arrives as a letter from the IRS in Austin, Texas, notice CP565, with the line that ends the waiting: you have been assigned an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.

IRS CP565 letter from Austin, Texas delivered in the client channel, stating an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number has been assigned
The real thing: an IRS CP565 assignment letter, delivered in the client channel.

Two practical lines from the IRS's own notice are worth knowing before you file.

The ITIN is used in place of a Social Security number on federal paperwork, and it expires if it does not appear on a federal return within three consecutive years. A number you never use is a number you eventually lose.

From here the path continues the way the clients in these screenshots took it: US bank accounts on an ITIN first, then the credit file.

The application is the part you control. The call makes sure it is right the first time.

The honest part

What these screenshots do not show

A wall of wins is a filtered view by definition, so here is what sits outside the frame.

Applications that ran longer than ten weeks are not published, and the IRS queue moves with its own seasons. No provider shortens it; the honest claim is only that a correctly filed W-7 does not restart it.

The engagement is advisory and the filing is prepared for you, but the approval decision belongs to the IRS alone.

FAQ

How long does an ITIN really take?
In the published First Class Citizen client record, the fastest case was 37 days, the team's own stated average is 47 days, most cases landed between six and nine weeks, and the slowest shown took about ten weeks. The IRS controls the timeline; no provider can promise a date.
What do you actually receive when an ITIN is approved?
A CP565 notice from the IRS in Austin, Texas stating that an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number has been assigned. Several letters of exactly this kind appear in the published record.
Can the process be made faster?
The queue itself cannot be accelerated. What a preparer controls is filing the W-7 correctly the first time, with the right documents, so the application is not rejected and restarted. The fast cases in the record are correctly filed applications that met a quick stretch of the IRS queue.
Does an ITIN expire?
Yes. The IRS's own assignment letter states that an ITIN not used on a federal tax return within three consecutive years expires and must be renewed.
Are these results guaranteed?
No. Every figure here is an individual outcome published on the First Class Citizen Hall of Wins. Approval and timing sit with the IRS, and slower cases than the ones shown exist. The engagement is advisory and preparation-focused.
